Our kids got a special treat this summer, a trip to Hawaii! Yep, Grandma took Zoe, Dylan, and their cousin to the island paradise. The weekend before they left the family all met up at our house. It was early Sunday morning when we decided to try and cook up something Hawaiian as a send off dinner. We put together our shopping list to make grilled chicken teriyaki and rosemary – garlic potatoes. We were also planning to bake a potato or two and to make a salad with fresh spinach from our garden. |

We love spring, especially those sunny days (or we would take a sunny afternoon) in between rains. Those sunny days we like sit out back, with thoughts far away from the kitchen and light up the BBQ. We were not ready to get into any gourmet grilling on our latest trip to the grocery for some items to put on the grill, items to please the vegetarians in our family (that the meat eater of the family likes too!). Zoe is a fan of Lightlife hotdogs while Joe and Amy like to load up one of Amy’s (brand) California burgers or a grilled portabella mushroom with all the fixings on a Rudy’s wheat hamburger bun. We put together a list that included some chips and dip too and with our list in hand we split up between Rosauers and the Moscow Food Co-op. When we got together to compare it was the Co-op that had beat out Rosauers hands down and with the $9.52 we saved at the Co-op Joe and Amy added a few summer ales and a smoothie for Zoe to go along with relaxing in the back yard on a sunny afternoon.
