Moscow Food Co-op Matches Impulse Giving Program Donations Contact: Kenna Eaton, Moscow Food Co-op General Manager, 882-8537 Carol Price Spurling, Co-op Outreach and Ownership Coordinator, 669-0763 In October, the Moscow Food Co-op matched dollar-for-dollar any donation made to local non-profit organizations in the Co-op’s Impulse Giving Program. The Co-op match doubled the donations to the following groups: Sojourners Alliance received a total of $66.18, Backyard Harvest $342, and Genesee Daoist Hermitage $250.94 December was a VERY busy month for community contributions. We donated cash, gift cards, or gift baskets to Christmas for Kids, Palouse Cares, Opportunities Unlimited, Palouse Suzuki Strings, Appaloosa Museum, CALS Food for Finals, Graham Ballet Theatre, and Palouse Paradise Baskets.
We matched Impulse Giving contributions this fall through the end of December. In November, these were the amounts donated: Sojourners Alliance: $33.91 from customers, $33.91 from Co-op = $67.82 Humane Society: $43.00 from customers, $43.00 from Co-op (plus small Impulse Giving donations from previous months) = $99.97 Backyard Harvest: $125.00 from customers, 125.00 from Co-op = $250.00 Palouse Prairie School: $118.88 from customers, $118.88 from Co-op = $237.76 Genesee Daoist Hermitage: $100.00 from customers, $100.00 from Co-op = $200.00 The total amount paid out for Impulse Giving in November was $855.55. Thanks so much to all the customers who remembered to give at the cash register. To participate in the impulse giving program, Co-op shoppers may donate any amount to participating non-profit organizations when they are checking out at the registers. Local groups interested in applying to participate in the Impulse Giving program are encouraged to submit an application. Applications are available on the Co-op’s website (www.moscowfood.coop) and also in the newsstand rack at the back of the store. A committee made up of two Co-op board members, two Co-op staff members, and two Co-op customer members will review the applications and select recipients each quarter.
