Response: I would love to have more local goods on the shelves from our Inland Northwest bioregion, especially goods made from local resources. Sustainably harvested wooden serving spoons and bowls, and thick-walled mixing bowls and bakeware made from local clay if possible. Willow or red osier baskets, and clothing made from local wool would also be nice. If you know of artists who make long-lasting, quality goods from local resources at prices the majority of our community members can afford, send them my way.

Comment: Love! Love! Love! The Banana Club! Our boys have always loved trips to the Co-op, but the Banana Club’s the icing on the cake. They love choosing what to get & “paying” for it. The cards are a precious item around our house. It also makes for a much smoother shopping trip as they happily munch on a banana, or apple goodie…and love the focus on fresh yummy nutritious food! Thank you! (How many times can I write “love”?) --Britt

Comment: My kids are loving the ABC Club! It’s programs like this that truly set the Co-op apart from other grocery stores – they offer free cookies to keep kid customers – you all thrill my kids with their own punch card for healthy fruit or vegetables. So fun! –Mackenzie

Response: Wow, what a lot of love for the Banana Club. We had hundreds of children participate, some who had never been in the store before, and we are thrilled to hear from families who appreciate this new effort to help all our children establish lifelong healthy eating habits. Our produce manager Scott loves it too, because he likes to see happy kids enjoying their fruits and veggies and saying hello when they visit him in that part of the store. We hope we will be able to continue the club beyond the two month pilot program that we had this fall – so watch for news about it in future newsletters, and remind the kiddos that really good things are worth the wait! –Carol Spurling, Co-op outreach and ownership coordinator
