Healthy Sleep Seminar

For many of us, achieving healthy sleep is something we can only dream of: going to sleep quickly, avoiding long periods of wakefulness in the night or early morning, and waking feeling rested after 7-9 hours of sleep.

In the past getting less sleep was seen as giving us a productive edge, but now we know the benefits of healthy sleep far outweigh the draw of burning the midnight oil.

The True Cost - Food For Thought Film Series

Food For Thought

Join us on Wednesday, March 21st for this FREE film presentation, courtesy of your Co-op, The University of Idaho Sustainability Center, The Kenworthy Performing Arts Center, and Altered Ego.

Doors open at 6:30, and the film begins at 7:00.

This month's film, The True Cost, has a runtime of 1 hour, 32 minutes, and is rated PG-13 for Thematic Elements and Disturbing Images

From the website:

This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing?
Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.

Board Election 2018 Voting Period

Welcome to Board Election 2018!

This year, five candidates are vying for three open seats.

When voting begins, all owners who have provided an email address to the Co-op will receive an email with a link to the electronic ballot. If you do not have an email address on file, you can access your ballot online at moscowfood.coop/evoting. To log in to vote, you will be prompted to enter 1.) the first four letters of the last name on the ownership, and 2.) the last four digits of the phone number on record.

The last day to become an owner and be eligible to vote in this election is Thursday, March 15.

Want more info on your candidates? Pick up a Voter's Guide at the Co-op Customer Service desk, and make sure to come meet the candidates at the Board Candidate Forum on Monday, March 19th at 7:00 pm in the Deli.

The Board of Directors plays a vital role in the well-being of the Moscow Food Co-op, and it’s important that you have confidence in each Board member’s ability to be a successful contributor. When you vote in this election, you are engaging in what defines us as a cooperative. We are a democratic organization controlled by our owners. You elect member representatives to the Board, and those nine directors are accountable to the Co-op’s 7,800+ owners as they guide our Co-op through governance policies and supervision of the General Manager. Casting a vote for a fellow owner in a cooperative is truly a powerful act. Thank you for your interest in our Co-op!

Passive Demo - Purely Elizabeth

I wanted to provide healthier, better-tasting alternatives to what was currently on the market, using the incredibly powerful superfoods that I was learning about in school, like quinoa, hemp, chia seeds and coconut oil. We believe that good health begins with what you put into your body. When you eat better, you feel better. It’s that simple. That’s why we created healthy foods with nutrient-rich superfood ingredients and none of the bad stuff. Oh, and they also taste amazing!

Tied to chocolate's natural counterpart, love, each bar resembles a love letter, complete with a romantic poem. The idea was simple - a selection of distinctly flavored chocolate bars made with all-natural ingredients and the classic techniques of Europe's finest chocolatiers. The package design would resemble a love letter sent from a distant land, and inside each wrapper - a classic romantic poem. The cocoa content would be clearly indicated on the front of each wrapper, the tasting notes would be simple and approachable, and the price, affordable.

Active Demo - Bare Culture Kombucha

The Bare Culture concept began in the Threadgill kitchen after a trip to Hawaii where Heather and Joe tasted some amazing kombucha. Heather decided to try and brew at home, where the process eventually took over the kitchen. In 2013, Heather moved her operation into the Midtown area of Coeur d’Alene, becoming owner, operator, and recipe developer. After assisting Heather during a major business growth spurt, Rob and Renetta decided to partner with Heather to create Bare Culture, LLC. January 1, 2015, the corporation was born and the business was moved into a larger space. The brew house now occupies space big enough for further expansion and the tap room provides space to allow for relaxing, ping pong, and foosball, as well as an outdoor patio.

At Kettle Brand®, we consciously use the healthiest sunflower and safflower oils, which is why we think it’s fitting that we run a growing fleet of company vehicles on distilled vegetable oil, known as biodiesel. In fact, 100% of the waste vegetable oil from our production process is converted into biodiesel. This rich nectar that we like to call “Flower Power®” is a natural alternative to petroleum diesel fuel. Its use benefits all of us by saving as much as 8 tons in CO2 emissions every year.
