The Alternative Giving Market of the Palouse (AGMP) is in its 8th year! Our mission is to give residents of the Palouse a meaningful alternative to holiday gift giving and an opportunity to support local nonprofits. We strive to enhance community well-being and sustainability through celebrating personal charity and community partnerships. Thanks to the generosity of our community we have raised over $126,000 for over 55 local non-profits serving a wide spectrum of needs on the Palouse. In each of our past years we have seen an increase in giving, and we hope to continue the trend with your help. The AGMP provides a platform for anyone to make a difference. Over 75% of our donations are under $10.
For the past 5 years, the AGMP has provided a Kids Give! program in Moscow schools, recently serving 4th graders across the district. For $50 a classroom, children make informed choices and donate to participating charities of their choosing. They learn the value of philanthropy and how they can make a difference; the breadth of mission and services provide to our community by local non-profits; and the impacts non-profits make in the quality of life in our communities.
The Dime in Time grant will allow us to continue to support our local non-profits and have a continued presence in classrooms to plant the seed for community service and philanthropy in future generations. We can all learn from our children. One fourth grader remarked, “I now know how to put my empathy into action”.
Please join us by donating to the AGMP, volunteering at one of our many events by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, shopping online from Black Friday, Nov.25 through Dec. 10, or shopping at the Alternative Giving Market on December 1 (4-8pm at the 1912 Center), Winter Markets on Dec. 3 and 10 (10am-2pm at the 1912 Center), or at the Palouse Mall from 12-5 pm, December 3 and 10.
