CHANGE FOR GOOD
A community giving program of the Moscow Food Co-op
Change for Good is a community giving program of the Moscow Food Co-op focused on eliminating single-use items from the waste stream.
For each reusable tote bag, reusable coffee mug or thermos, bulk container, produce bag, or EcoToGo box, they bring in, customers are able to donate a “5-cent token,” up to 10 tokens, to one of three organizations selected by the Change for Good committee. These recipients will rotate every three months, with one consistently being the Co-op’s FLOWER program, which provides a 20% discount for low-income shoppers.
Our paper bags are made from 100% recycled paper and are fully compostable and recyclable. As such, we charge21¢ for each large paper grocery bag at the register to reflect the true manufacturing cost. We'll also be expanding the way we celebrate shoppers who use reusable grocery totes and include reusable produce bags, EcoToGo containers at the deli or salad bar, bulk containers (like mason jars, upcycled containers with lids, or cloth bags), and coffee mugs and thermoses. We recognize that not everyone has access to a reusable grocery tote. That's why we're starting a totally free library of grocery totes, recycled paper bags, and cardboard boxes that will be available for you to use at the Front End. Donations are welcome! Feel free to donate a tote bag to this library if you'd like to contribute and clean out your tote bag supply, and take one when you need it.

Moscow Day School is a parent-run, not-for profit center committed to the earliest stages of childhood education. We invest in keeping our teacher-to-student ratios low to ensure our kids get the individual attention they need and deserve.
We're making these changes to encourage daily use of reusable bags, reusable produce bags, and reusable bulk containers in efforts to minimize the amount of single-use products entering the waste stream. We also know many community organizations rely on the Co-op for charitable funding opportunities, and we're dedicated to continue to offer ways for non-profit organizations to gain support.
