A 20% discount at checkout every time you shop. FLOWER is one of the ways we work to reduce the impact of food insecurity on the Palouse, so meeting your family’s nutritional needs is a little easier.

Eligibility

Two things are required:

Co-op Ownership

Be a Moscow Food Co-op owner with your equity payments up to date.

If the cost of ownership is a barrier, our Community Equity Fund can help.

You're enrolled in one of these programs

  • EBT/SNAP Benefits
  • WIC
  • Medicaid
  • Pell Grant
  • Free School Lunch Program (not reduced lunch program)
  • Section 8 Housing

What you agree to

To participate in the FLOWER program, you agree to the following:

  • Your discount is yours alone. It may not be shared with other Co-op owners or community members. Co-op staff may ask for your photo ID until we get to know you. Misuse of the discount may result in losing it.

  • Your equity payments stay current. Moscow Food Co-op owner equity payments must be up to date to receive owner benefits, including the FLOWER discount. Community Equity Funds are available to support equity payments by application.

  • You reapply every year. The 20% FLOWER discount is valid for one year and needs to be reapplied for annually by Jan 31 of each year.

  • Some items are excluded. The FLOWER discount cannot be applied to items currently on sale, nor to products in our Alcohol department.

  • Discounts aren’t retroactive. If your Moscow Food Co-op equity payments lapse or your FLOWER discount expires, we can’t go back and apply the discount to past purchases.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Applications are available at both store locations (downtown and on campus) and linked on this page, above. Qualifying documentation is shown at the time of application, and your discount will be activated within 7 days.

  • The discount expires January 31 of each year. FLOWER participants must keep their annual Co-op ownership payments up to date and also reapply annually for the FLOWER program. Reapplication reminder emails and/or letters are issued the beginning of January.

  • Only you! All Moscow Food Co-op ownerships are individual ownerships and cannot be shared with other adults, including spouses, partners, and housemates. (One owner, one vote!) Adult members of your household can apply for their own membership and FLOWER discount. (You may specify one ‘designated shopper’ to use your membership if shopping in-store is a barrier for you).

  • While most items receive the 20% FLOWER discount, including Co+op Basics, supplements, and prepared foods, the FLOWER discount doesn’t apply to products within the Co-op’s sales programs: Co+op Deals, Owner Deals, and Flash Sales. In addition, alcohol does not receive the FLOWER discount.
