In no particular order I am a historian, community volunteer, new mom, Northwest transplant, and pet parent. I moved to the Palouse for graduate school in 2011 and had the good fortune to land a job in Moscow in 2013. I've worked in the nonprofit sector for close to a decade, and believe deeply in the good work that my fellow NPO colleagues do for our town.

The Moscow Food Co-op has been an anchor in my life as I've transitioned from student to young professional to mom. I love stopping in for a nutritious lunch, hard-to-find ingredients, earth-friendly beauty products, and so much more. The educational opportunities that the Co-op presents, even throughout the pandemic, have empowered me to make smart choices regarding how I feed myself and my family, and how I treat our shared environment.

My interest in food is rooted in my training as a historian. Course work in environmental history allowed me to learn about how our modern foodways have developed over time, and in particular how the American West has been a place of bounty and of extraction. The Euro-American settlement of the Palouse is a story of agricultural innovation and evolution. I'm interested in learning from the past and applying historical context to the decisions we are making today for the future.

My husband Tonda and I welcomed our son Booker during the summer of 2020, and he completed our family of two dogs (Pace and Rio) and a very old cat (Zee). In our free time we enjoy being outside. Cross-country skiing, hiking, and fly fishing are some of our favorite ways to spend a day, and enjoying a fine Idaho beer or glass of wine is the best way to end it.
