October already! Now that fall is officially here, get ready to snuggle up with an inspiring  deep-dive-look at why healthy fat is so good for your body, and how to eat in a way that supports incredible optimal health and healing. We’ll be reading one of the Moscow Food Co-op’s favorite authors, Dr. Joseph Mercola. Our October selection is his book, “Fat for Fuel: A Revolutionary Diet to Combat Cancer, Boost Brain Power, and Increase Your Energy.”  We read his book Effortless Healing earlier this year, and had more new folks come to discuss it than any book in recent memory. Some of us have permanently altered our eating habits as a result. With health, weight loss, and energy boosts to boot.

“Fat for Fuel” goes further than the simple outline listed in Effortless Healing. In it, Dr. Mercola expands on why healthy fat is so instrumental to human health and vitality, how it can trigger health and lasting weight loss, and even prevent and heal serious disease. If you’ve heard the of term “ketogenic” – essentially a way to promote healthy digestion, fat burning, excellent brain function, and living without chronic inflammation so common due to our typical America diet—you’ll  want to read this book. Furthermore, it’s a great companion follow-up to “The Big Fat Surprise,” by Nina Teicholz another recent book club selection.

“Fat for Fuel” comes as close to full 5 star rating on Amazon as any book we’ve seen, with hundreds of reviews—many absolutely glowing—and some claiming recovery and healing from long-term chronic diseases. It also has many more credentialed endorsements listed than we typically see.
